I think it also depends on how much you like your tucker and beer.

Thanks Jason,
Been busy renewing the boundary fence and haven’t got around to
pulling the old floor out yet.
When I do I’ll measure the spacings and go from there.

I used 12mm in my last build I think from memory the spacing was about 500 or so and I find it pretty good.

Cheers Jason

Thanks Nugget, Will look at that when I pull the old floor out.
Might have to put some more bearers in, then can decide what ply to use.

In my experience, it depends on how far apart your support ribs are. One boat I had, 15mm ply felt like a trampoline. I’d try and get a piece to throw down and try. On that boat the floor bracing was 60cm apart, I ended up going with 18mm ply – but it is heavy.

Looking to put new ply floor in our tinny.
Haven’t been on the water for good while and want to get ready when we get
some rain, might chase ( catch ) some crabs.
Any ideas on size ply and what to paint/preserve it with.
Want to get away with the lightest weight possible.
3.86 Seajay. Have 15 merc/Motorguide elect and big battery so
need to keep eye on weight.
Would 12mm ply do the job or need to go heavier, Looks like 15mm carpet covered
in it but it’s all swelled up, hard to measure.
Any help/advice would be big help.

Gary.
